Thursday 21st May - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Kirton Church – Sunny and hot.

With three breezy days coming from Friday today was a good opportunity to get out on the bikes, the thunder storms failed to arrive and we had another hot sunny day here in Suffolk, just loving this weather:) This sunny hot weather is bringing the crowds to the coast and sadly social distancing seems a thing of the past which is why we like to avoid the seafront! So, with that in mind and after I did my exercises in the garden for the 65th consecutive day, salad packed we head inland on yet another bike adventure, the plan being to head to Falkenham Church. Leaving home just past midday in the hottest part of the day we skirt the Grove park, sadly the wonderful cow paisley is now past its best coming out on Gulphur Road and were greeted by a herd of calves watching us over the gate! Then turning left down Marsh Lane, past the delict house coming out at Kings Fleet and were l treated to several bright Yellow Wagtails. Up onto the Deben river path which and we only saw a couple of grumpy walkers who had really fallen out with each other, in fact we saw very few people for the whole four days we were out, we love ‘social distancing’ in fact we have been doing it for years! We bumped along to the third footpath off, one we haven’t been on this year heading towards Falkenham Church, having seen a pair of swans with 5 youngsters, our first of the year! We miss the path the Falkenham so decide to head to Kirton Church where we find a sheltered seat in the graveyard for our picnic:) You can’t beat an old church for a break, full of wild flowers and all manor of birds, including a pair of starlings feeding their hungry youngster! We must have spent an hour relaxing, me laying in the sun and taking pics while Mag read her book on her phone! We then set off to discover several new footpaths around Kirton with several fields of peas in full bloom:) We were again knackered when we got home after four hours out covering 16 mostly bumpy miles and the highlight of the day was a fly past of two Spitfires over Kirton Church, not something you see every day :)
